1.47 Mathematical Reasoning GCSE PowerPoint Lesson
£2.00
In this 20-slide lesson, pupils will develop their mathematical reasoning skills by exploring and evaluating conjectures involving number properties. They will work with types of numbers (such as even, odd, prime, square, and multiples), consecutive numbers, and integers, and use examples and counterexamples to test whether statements are always, sometimes, or never true. This lesson supports logical thinking, critical analysis, and verbal reasoning, encouraging pupils to justify their ideas and engage in mathematical discussion. It lays important foundations for proof-based thinking without requiring formal algebraic proof.
Note that this is not a lesson on algebraic proof – this can be found under the higher algebra lessons.
The lesson includes:
Clear, guided examples
Discussion opportunities from Think, Pair, Share
Mini whiteboard section to check understanding and clarify misconceptions
Two structured tasks to practise key skills
Challenge activity to extend and deepen learning
Perfect for engaging learners while reinforcing essential numeracy concepts.
