2.9 Factorising Quadratics PowerPoint Lesson
£2.00
In this 28-slide lesson, students will learn how to factorise quadratic expressions of the form ax^2+bx+c including both monic quadratics (where a=1) and non-monic quadratics (where a≠1).
The lesson begins by revisiting the concept of expanding double brackets to reinforce the structure of a quadratic expression. Students will then explore how to reverse this process to factorise expressions by identifying factor pairs of the constant term and the middle term. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognise factorable quadratic expressions, apply systematic methods to factorise both monic and non-monic quadratics and check their factorisation by expanding brackets.
Includes factorising for both monic expressions and non-monic expressions (which are on higher tier only).
The lesson includes:
Clear, guided examples
Discussion opportunities from Think, Pair, Share
Mini whiteboard section to check understanding and clarify misconceptions
Two structured tasks to practise key skills
Challenge activity to extend and deepen learning
Perfect for engaging learners while reinforcing essential algebra concepts.
